Private Use & Competency Firearm Training Courses

ACCREDITED BY THE INTERNATIONAL FIREARM TRAINING ACADEMY

This training is for anyone who privately uses a firearm and who requires a Competency Certificate in terms of the relevant legislation. Candidates must complete U/S 117705 Knowledge of the Firearms Control Act 60/2000 first before moving onto the rest of the Basic Level Unit Standards. U/S 117705 must be completed when renewing an existing firearm license.

(U/S 117705) KNOWLEDEGE OF THE FIREARMS CONTROL ACT 60/2000

To renew an existing firearm license, the applicant is required to complete a test on the Firearms Control Act 60/2000. This is aligned with Unit Standard 117705 – Knowledge of the Firearms Control Act 60/2000. This Unit Standard is also the entry level to all other firearm Unit Standards.

(U/S 119649) HANDLE AND USE A HANDGUN

This course covers legal aspects relating to when you may or may not shoot in self-defense situations, firearm safety, loading & unloading and the fundamentals of shooting.

On this course, you will shoot approximately 25 rounds of ammunition. The entry level to this course is Unit Standard 117705 Knowledge of the Firearms Control Act 60/2000.

This course is a legal requirement for first time firearm owners.

(U/S 119649) HANDLE AND USE A SELF-LOADING RIFLE

This course covers legal aspects relating to when you may and may not shoot in self-defence situations, firearm safety, loading and unloading and the fundamentals of shooting.

On this course, you will shoot approximately 25 rounds of ammunition. The entry level to this course is Unit Standard 117705 Knowledge of the Firearms Control Act 60/2000.

This course is a legal requirement for first time firearm owners.

(U/S 119651) HANDLE AND USE A MANUALLY-OPERATED RIFLE

This course covers legal aspects relating to when you may and may not shoot in self-defence situations, firearm safety, loading and unloading and the fundamentals of shooting.

On this course, you will shoot approximately 25 rounds of ammunition. The entry level to this course is Unit Standard 117705 Knowledge of the Firearms Control Act 60/2000.

This course is a legal requirement for first time firearm owners.

This course covers legal aspects relating to when you may and may not shoot in self-defence situations, firearm safety, loading and unloading and the fundamentals of shooting.

On this course, you will shoot approximately 25 rounds of ammunition. The entry level to this course is Unit Standard 117705 Knowledge of the Firearms Control Act 60/2000.

This course is a legal requirement for first time firearm owners.

Combination manuals on the above firearms are available for candidates who wish to complete multiple Unit Standards.
